GAO says critical industrial sectors' plans don't deal with cybersecuity requirements.
The Homeland Security Department opened a new operations center today that integrates national cybersecurity and telecommunications monitoring systems and provides a new degree of situational awareness surrounding the nation’s communications, information technology and cyber infrastructure.
In approving the budget, the Senate said the increase was aimed at expediting efforts to combat cyberthreats using such measures as reducing the points of Internet access across the department and increasing security training and management capabilities.
Protocols are in place, but patch management is spotty.

Under new rules developed by the Department of Health and Human Services, HIPAA-covered health care providers, health plans and other health entities must notify patients of data breaches involving their health information. Unless, of course, they decide not to.
