- Provide multi platform systems programming and advanced information security skills

- Ensure the security and integrity of any equipment attached to the RU Network
- Server
- Workstations
- LAN
- Recommend additional security software as needed
- Scans will be done by the Information Protection and Security Division; systems administrator will assist with information and help needed
- Ensure the security and integrity of any equipment attached to the RU Network
- Resolve issues and vulnerabilities found on University scans
- Back-up and recovery for critical data
- Account creation/removal procedures-To be determined by RIAS
- Account group creation/removal procedures To be determined by RIAS
- Secure and implement hardware, software and configurations for RIAS deployment (http://www.computer-store.rutgers.edu)
- Server back-up
- User support
- Network monitoring
- Equipment maintenance
- Standard security settings
- Default account settings

- Change Control procedures
- Tape Backup Operations
- Ensure previous night’s backup was successful
- Provide for a tape rotation schedule and change tape according to process (see below)
- Store tapes in an appropriate “safe place” or off-site
- Tape media should be replaced no less than once a year
- Tapes should be clearly marked
- Virus protection
- Ensure virus protection software is operational on the server and workstations and loaded with new signature files which can be automatically updated at a minimum 7 day interval (http://software.rutgers.edu)
- Any workstation wishing to attach to the server should be running a virus scan security suite; those not running virus protection should protected with multiple layers of defense as discussed with the systems administrator and department director/chair.
- Discovered viruses are the responsibility of the user who should notify the departmental support person/UCS immediately
- As new antivirus software becomes available, departmental support staff will assure that updates are configured regularly or automatically
- Only departmental IT support or systems administrator will download or install software due to viruses which can be downloaded from the Internet.
Responsibilities of the Network Liaison to Provide Trusted Systems
- Modify Network DNS data
- Modify Network DHCP data
- Request Hostmaster to modify network DNS data
- Be the emergency contact for the network (http://hostmaster.rutgers.edu)
