Who is responsible for NPPI? — last modified 2007-07-27 11:28
We are all responsible for NPPI. It is extremely important to be proactive and prevent the misuse of personal information through care in divulging personal information and maintaining data security. Be attentive to circumstances and to whom confidential information is being provided, and how it is intended for use. This is true in a personal as well as professional sense. Departments and individuals maintaining non-public private information are responsible for that information, its protection and any disclosure of it. Departments holding unnecessary non-public private information should remove and properly dispose of it.
